An upstate NY 68-year-old man was killed at an unprotected crossing in Northumberland on Wednesday morning. According to the sheriff's department, the truck was crossing the tracks and got stuck. An oncoming freight train then hit the truck, killing the operator and injuring the 53-year-old driver.
This dangerous crossing has no protective lights or gates.

A 33-year-old mother in Diggins, Missouri was killed Friday as she attempted to cross a private railroad crossing in the area. The crossing is dangerous, containing no protective devices such as flashing lights and a protective gate, being outiftted instead with nothing but a stop sign.
The mother's 8-year-old daughter survived the crash, but is currently listed as being in critical condition.

A 63-year-old retired police officer was killed by an MBTA commute train on Saturday. He was crossing the tracks on a pedestrian crosswalk.
According to one witness, the victim "stepped inside the fence where you are supposed to stand, and he must have made a misstep, and the train clipped him."
Yet MBTA's preliminary investigation of their own accident has predictably concluded that the man was walking out in from of the train.

A respected pastor and his wife were killed on Sunday morning at an unguarded crossing in Lemoine, LA. The crossing is not outfitted with any safety devices - no lights or gates. Only a crossbuck sign exists to mark the location of the crossing. The oncoming train hit the car on the passenger's side, causing the car to burst into flames and pushing it nearly 200 feet. The driver and passenger were both killed immediately upon impact.

A tragic train accident in McComb, Mississippi has left three youths dead and one critically injured. Those who lost their lives were aged 17, 12, and 2 years old. The survivor is 17.
The Amtrak train struck the vehicle at an unguarded crossing. There were no lights or gates to warn motorists of the approaching train. The track speed for the area is 60 MPH.

A 79-year old man lost his life at a railroad crossing in Marshfield, WI. He was transported from the scene of the crash to a local hospital, where he remained unconscious and died shortly after. Medical examiners determined that he had not suffered a stroke or heart attack that would have knocked him unconscious. Seeing that he was transporting beer, police theorized that he may have been drunk and cited him for driving under the influence.

A train accident in Girard, Kansas at an unguarded railroad crossing resulted in tragedy on Sunday. The driver, a 22 year old woman, lost her life in the accident, and her 7 month old baby and the father both were seriously injured in the accident. The accident is under investigation. No gate to protect motorists from trains exists at the crossing.
