Two killed in train-car crash at unguarded Louisiana crossing

A respected pastor and his wife were killed on Sunday morning at an unguarded crossing in Lemoine, LA.  The crossing is not outfitted with any safety devices - no lights or gates.  Only a crossbuck sign exists to mark the location of the crossing.  The oncoming train hit the car on the passenger's side, causing the car to burst into flames and pushing it nearly 200 feet.  The driver and passenger were both killed immediately upon impact.

3 injured, one killed in Mississippi train accident at unguarded crossing

A tragic train accident in McComb, Mississippi has left three youths dead and one critically injured.  Those who lost their lives were aged 17, 12, and 2 years old.  The survivor is 17.

The Amtrak train struck the vehicle at an unguarded crossing.  There were no lights or gates to warn motorists of the approaching train. The track speed for the area is 60 MPH.

Wisconsin man killed at railroad crossing, alcohol not a factor

A 79-year old man lost his life at a railroad crossing in Marshfield, WI.  He was transported from the scene of the crash to a local hospital, where he remained unconscious and died shortly after.  Medical examiners determined that he had not suffered a stroke or heart attack that would have knocked him unconscious.  Seeing that he was transporting beer, police theorized that he may have been drunk and cited him for driving under the influence.

A train accident in Girard, Kansas at an unguarded railroad crossing resulted in tragedy on Sunday.  The driver, a 22 year old woman, lost her life in the accident, and her 7 month old baby and the father both were seriously injured in the accident.  The accident is under investigation.  No gate to protect motorists from trains exists at the crossing.

Ohio man killed at unguarded railroad crossing with vegetation

A 76-year-old man was hit by a Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad train in Crawford County, Ohio on Wednesday morning.  The railroad crossing has no lights or gates to protect or warn approaching vehicles and pedestrians of an approaching train.

A local who lives two houses from the railroad crossing says: "When you are driving north and the corn is grown up like it is now, you cannot see if a train is coming. There has been one other fatal accident since I have lived here, and that was also because of the crossing. It was a motorcycle that was hit by a train."

Disabled pedestrian hit by train at railroad crossing

A 67 year old man of Keyser, West Virginia was struck and killed by a freight train Wednesday night.  The wheels of the disabled man's scooter became stuck in between the rail and the asphalt at the crossing.  Though he struggled to move the scooter, he was unable to get unstuck before an approaching freight train collided with the man and killed him.

The crossing itself is outfitted with a protective gate, though it is unclear how long the man was stuck on the tracks before struck by the train.

Mississippi woman killed in train crash at unguarded railroad crossing

A young woman of Byhalia, MS was killed Sunday in a train crash at an unguarded railroad crossing.  The 21-year-old attempted to cross an unguarded railroad crossing in her Chevy Lumina when she was struck and killed by the approaching train.  The crossing itself is protected by neither lights nor gates - nothing exists to warn motorists of the crossing besides a passive railroad crossing sign.

Police deliver ticket to hospital for man critically injured by train

Leobardo Guerrereo, 59, of Bosco, LA has spent the last few days in critical condition at the hospital due to a collision with a train at an unguarded railroad crossing. Guerrereo suffered "14 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a broken chest plate, head injuries and injuries to his organs," according to his daughter. In spite of this, the police came to the hospital to deliver the now barely conscious man a ticket.

Train-truck crossing collision at unguarded Louisiana rail crossing

A Union Pacific train collided with a commercial truck earlier today at a railroad crossing in Opelousas, LA. The railroad crossing is not outfitted with protective equipment such as lights or gates. Fortunately, no one suffered any critical injuries, but the driver of the truck was sent to a local hospital as a precaution.
