Police Stonewall Media As Denton County A-Train Records Another Accident
(Lake Dallas, Texas – November 14, 2011)
Suffering the operation’s fifth accident since service was launched in June, and the second in the past four days, Denton County, TX’s suburban passenger “A-Train” struck at least one vehicle at the crossing of Hundley Drive and DCTA tracks in Lake Dallas, TX Monday evening about 6:03 P.M.
Details of the accident, which may have involved more than one highway vehicle, were sketchy due to the refusal of investigating Lake Dallas Police officers to share any information regarding the incident, as well as shielding drivers involved from the news media.
Denton County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Tom Reedy offered limited information, including the fact that two vehicles had been hit by the train, but the Lake Dallas PD officers on the scene did the “stonewalling.” At least one pickup truck was hit at the non-gated crossing, but attempts to obtain information at the scene were stifled by LDPD officers, who would say only that no information would be available until Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a LDPD sergeant who was helping a driver retrieve items knocked out of his pickup truck bed by the impact refused to allow the driver to speak to a reporter at the scene.
