A 23-year-old man, died early Thursday evening when the truck was struck at a dangerous, unguarded crossing of CSX Railroad tracks by a CSX freight train near Fostoria, OH. Dustin Stoundinger of Bradner, OH was killed after he first made sure the other three occupants were free from the vehicle before attempting to save himself.

One of the occupants suffered a broken collarbone and was airlifted to Fostoria Community Hospital, while another victim with less serious injuries was transported to the same facility via ambulance. The four were on their way into town to visit the girlfriend of one of the victims. Thomas Kern, father of one of the injured parties, blamed the lack of any markings, signage or signals whatsoever to warn motorists of railroad tracks as a primary cause of the tragedy. The crossing is a private farm crossing of CSX tracks.
