(Monroe County, Wisconsin – August 14, 2011)
An unidentified female motorist died Sunday night shortly after 9:00 P.M. as she attempted to cross Canadian Pacific Railroad tracks at the Iberia Avenue crossing in rural Monroe County, WI, just southwest of Sparta, WI.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Monroe County Medical Examiner Tom Wissestad. The crossing is equipped with lights, bells and gates, but whether or not they were working properly is being investigated by both the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
