Waiting Passenger Killed As Amtrak Train Speeds Past Station Platform
(Buena Park, California – October 26, 2011)
An as-yet unidentified man, standing on the station platform at the Metrolink Buena Park, CA station Wednesday night about 9:00 P.M., was killed when a San Diego-to-Los Angeles Amtrak “Coaster” train carrying 96 passengers traveled through the station on Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks at full speed, striking the victim.
Buena Park Police Sgt. William Kohonek said that there were no witnesses in the train station, so it was unknown whether the man stepped or jumped in front of the train, or whether he was pulled toward it.
