Texas Pedestrian Killed by Amtrak Train on Union Pacific Tracks
(Arlington, Texas – January 21, 2015)
A pedestrian attempting to cross a railroad bridge almost within the shadow of the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, was struck by an Amtrak’s eastbound “Texas Eagle” passenger train last Wednesday afternoon at about 3:00 P.M., CST, and fell 30 feet below to Johnson Creek, from which his body was retrieved.
The victim, identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner as local resident Charlie Hart, 48, who may have been unable to tell which track the train, one of 19 which travel through the Union Pacific corridor daily, was on. Details of the tragedy were surprisingly scarce even though it occurred parallel to the 1400 block of East Abram Street, Arlington’s “main” street, which can clearly be seen from the heavily-traveled thoroughfare.
