(Fontana, California – July 1, 2011)
A 15-year-old boy riding his bicycle was hit and killed by a Southern California Metrolink commuter train as he rode across a grade crossing in Fontana, CA early Friday evening about 6:20 P.M.
Ricardo Lizarraga was killed instantly when an eastbound train struck him on the Sierra Avenue Metrolink crossing in this community 50 miles east of Los Angeles. The crossing is equipped with lights and gates, but no statement on their operational status was issued. The victim was declared dead at the scene by the San Bernardino County Coroner, and further investigation is being handled by both Fontana Police and Metrolink officials.
