Pittsburgh-Area Pedestrian Killed By Norfolk Southern Train
(Jeannette, Pennsylvania – December 5, 2011)
The body of an as-yet unidentified man, believed to have been struck by a Norfolk Southern freight train, was discovered about 3:30 P.M. Monday afternoon 1,000 feet east of the Second Street bridge in Jeannette, PA.
The victim was pronounced dead by Westmoreland County Deputy Coroner Sean Hribal, who said all indications pointed to the man having been hit by an earlier train, even though no train crews had reported hitting a pedestrian.
Jeannette and Norfolk Southern police were both investigating the tragedy.
