A 35-year-old male resident of Powder Springs, GA was hit and killed by a Birmingham-bound Norfolk Southern freight train consisting of three locomotives and 41 freight cars about 5:30 A.M. Friday morning in Lithia Springs, GA.
Robert Wilkins was lying on the tracks near the Harper Road crossing of NS rails, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Douglas County Coroner Randy Daniel, who told news media that the victim’s body “was transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta to determine why he was lying on the tracks.”
