Multiple Amtrak Passengers Injured After Collision with High-Centered Tractor-Trailer at Oklahoma Crossing

Multiple passengers on an Amtrak train were taken to a local hospital for various injuries after a dramatic collision with a high-centered tractor-trailer. The collision occurred near Thackerville, Oklahoma along the Oklahoma-Texas border Friday evening around 7:00 pm.
According to reports, the tractor-trailer was loaded with vehicles and became high-centered on the humped crossing. The tractor=trailer attempted to get off the tracks, but could not. A few minutes later, the daily Amtrak train traveling between Oklahoma City and Fort Worth struck lodged trailer at a high rate of speed.
According to Amtrak, there were 110 passengers and crew members on board. Five people on board the train were transported to two area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the local sheriff.
