(Kirkwood, Missouri – January 5, 2021)
A local Kirkwood, Missouri resident was injured after the driver’s Subaru vehicle was hit by a westbound Amtrak train. The collision occurred at BNSF Railway tracks just west of the Kirkwood Amtrak Station. According to police reports, the Subaru was southbound on Taylor Street at approximately 1:15 pm when the collision occurred.
The driver was transported to a local hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The railroad crossing where this collision occurred is equipped with lights and gates. However, it was unclear whether they were properly operating. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
