Idaho Man Dies at Dangerous, Unguarded Private Railroad Crossing
(Bonners Ferry, Idaho – May 16, 2011)
A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train hauled by three locomotives struck and killed an Idaho resident at a dangerous, unguarded private railroad crossing near the Mirror Lake Golf Course this morning at 8:54 A.M.
The victim was identified as area resident Dick Kelso. The BNSF train was eastbound, destined for eastern Montana, on a track segment posted at a maximum of 40 mph. The crossing was equipped solely with stop signs reported Idaho State Police who investigated the tragedy.
