An as-yet unidentified motorist, driving an SUV Wednesday night, had his vehicle stall or get stuck on CSX Railroad tracks at the crossing of Doggett Grove Road near Forest City, NC, and was injured as his vehicle was hit on the passenger side by a CSX train as he tried to evacuate the vehicle.

The crossing is equipped with lights, bells and gates, but the train had not yet activated the devices when the victim’s vehicle stalled. He was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center with undetermined injuries.
