(Winder, Georgia – June 21, 2011)
An unidentified motorist was seriously injured in a collision with a CSX Railroad freight train at the Horton Street crossing of CSX tracks in Winder, GA earlier Tuesday. The victim was rushed to an area hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition.
The victim’s car sustained massive damage to the passenger side of the vehicle, and was knocked a considerable distance down the tracks from the force of the encounter. The crossing is equipped with gates, but no report of their operation was available. The accident is being investigated by the Winder Police Dept. and the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office.
