Chicago Suburb Suffers Fourth Pedestrian/Train Fatality This Year
(Naperville, Illinois – September 30, 2011)
A 67-year-old Naperville, IL pedestrian, Andrew Adams, was hit and killed by a westbound Metra commuter passenger train travelling on Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks about 5:22 P.M. Friday afternoon just east of the downtown Metra station in Naperville, IL.
Although Chicago-based Metra Media Relations Specialist Meg Reille could not provide information on the victim, she was quick to assert that it was also not known “whether it was an accident or a suicide.” The tragedy marked the fourth fatality due to a pedestrian being struck by a Metra train on BNSF tracks thus far in 2011.
