(Tucson, Arizona – October 2, 2011)
A 23-year-old female motorist died following a crossing accident with a Union Pacific train early Sunday morning about 2:00 A.M. when her car became stuck on the North 7th Avenue crossing with UPRR tracks in Tucson, AZ. The driver, Ana Samoza, had three passengers in her car when it became stuck on the crossing prior to any signal indication of the approach of the train.
Once the gates and lights activated, all four individuals exited the car, but for some reason, the victim crossed behind her vehicle and was hit by the train. She was taken to a Tucson hospital with severe injuries, but later died from the effects of the accident.
