California Passenger Killed by Metrolink Train at Sylmar San Fernando Station

(Los Angeles, California – April 16, 2018)

A 24-year-old female who was returning home from donating blood fell into the path of an incoming Metrolink commuter train and was killed at about 5:50 P.M. Monday at the Sylmar/San Fernando Metrolink depot.  The victim fell when she and her unidentified boyfriend prepared to board the Palmdale-bound train 285.

Felicia Smith evidently felt faint as she arose from a seated position on a platform bench and slipped or fell onto the tracks as the train neared. Her unnamed boyfriend jumped into the track channel in a desperate but futile effort to save the victim.  He sustained a leg injury as he train struck both him and Felicia.

Family members and friends were devastated as they recounted the event to KTLA-TV, Channel 5 News Reporter Mary Beth McDade.
