(Harrodsburg, Kentucky – October 15, 2011)
A 19-year-old motorist, blinded by the early morning sun, was killed Saturday morning when she could not see the flashing lights at the Norfolk Southern Railroad crossing of Bohon Road in Harrodsburg, KY, and collided with a NS freight train.
Sophia Ammons was crossing the NSRR tracks in her pickup truck and was ejected from her vehicle by the force of the collision. The Mercer County Coroner’s Office said she was not killed instantly, but died before emergency forces arrived.
