(La Puente, California – December 4, 2011)
A 47-year-old local resident, Tony Rodriguez, was hit and killed by Amtrak’s eastbound “Sunset Limited” passenger train on Union Pacific Railroad tracks near Old Valley Blvd. and Albert Street in La Puente, CA about 3:40 P.M. Sunday afternoon.
The train’s crew spotted the victim on the tracks and sounded the engine’s horn. Rodriguez tried to get off the tracks, but was unable to do so in time to escape the oncoming train.
