(Albuquerque, New Mexico – July 22, 2011)
A yet-to-be identified pedestrian was hit and killed by Amtrak’s Los Angeles, CA-bound Southwest Chief passenger train just after 7:00 P.M. Friday evening near Commercial and Indian School Road NE in Albuquerque, NM. The tragedy occurred where Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad tracks, over which Amtrak operates the Southwest Chief, cross under Interstate 40. Officials were quick to point out that they considered the victim to be a trespasser.
