Tennessee Motorist and Dog Killed in Collision with Amtrak Train

(May 3, 2026 – Obion County, Tennessee)

A motorist and his dog passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning after their vehicle was hit by an Amtrak passenger train. The collision occurred at approximately 3 a.m. According to the responding authorities, the victim was a 40-year-old resident of South Fulton, TN. Their name has not and will not be shared with the public for the family’s privacy.

Preliminary investigation has indicated that the victim received treatment while being transported to a hospital but was unable to be resuscitated. There was no major damage to the Amtrak train or Canadian Northern Railway tracks. The fatality occurred less than a day after a pedestrian-train collision in Middle Tennessee on Saturday, May 2, resulted in another death.
