Two Injured in Pennsylvania after Collision with Railroad Track Car at Non-Functioning Light and Gate Crossing

A driver and passenger were injured in Kidder Township, Pennsylvania after their vehicle was struck by a Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad track car that failed to activate the warning lights and gates at a crossing. The collision occurred last Sunday, May 4, 2025, around 11:30 am at the RBMN crossing with Tannery Road. The driver and passenger have yet to be identified, but were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Photographs from the scene show the light and gate signal system not activated for the track car. According to federal records, the crossing and tracks are owned by Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad, which operate trains over the crossing at speeds up to 40 mph. It is unclear how fast the track car was traveling when it struck the motorists.

Local police are still investigating the collision.
