A Tennessee motorist was seriously injured on July 2, 2025, around 11:30 am when their vehicle was struck by a CSX freight train in Memphis. The collision between the SUV and freight train occurred at the railroad crossing on Stage Road near Barlett Boulevard. The female driver of the vehicle has not been identified.
According to the Tennessee state troopers, this collision occurred at the same CSX crossing where a limousine escorting a family to a funeral was hit by a train in April. The limo driver and funeral escorts were cited in that incident.
Witnesses say moments before a train smacked into an SUV, a female driver may have been pulled over by a state trooper, and that the vehicle was still on the tracks before being hit.
A driver stopped at an adjacent intersection saw the whole collision. Jordan spoke with local reporters, stating, “I don’t know how recently he had gone up to the window, but I saw him walk back to his car, and on the way back the train blew a horn and you can see it coming and he like signaled like go, go, go.” According to Pearce, there seemed to be confusion as the woman tried to get out of harm’s way.
“Stuff went flying and she ended up on the opposite side of the train that I was on, so I could see through the gap in the train cars people were running over there and they had their hands up in a gasp, shock kind of thing, but seemed to be talking to the lady,” said Pearce.
