A 17-year-old teen pedestrian was killed last week after he was struck by an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train. tragic incident occurred at the intersection with Sorrento Valley Blvd and Sorrento Valley Road, near Roselle Street, at the end of I-805 in the City of San Diego.
According to reports, the teen was riding a bicycle with two friends when they all stopped at a pedestrian crossing arms to allow a northbound train to pass. After the northbound train passed, the teens attempted to traverse the crossing. At the same time, a hidden southbound high-speed Amtrak train was coming on a second set of tracks. The train struck one of the minors but did not collide with the other two bicyclists.
Local authorities are investigating the tragedy.
