The small town of Peetz, CO got some unwanted problems Wednesday morning about 9:50 A.M. when its commercial area was effectively shut down by the derailment of eight cars of a southbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe coal train.

The derailment occurred across from the Peetz Farmers’ Co-Op, and the sole explanation for the accident from BNSF spokesman Andy Williams was that the cause was “under investigation.” There were no injuries reported from the mishap.
