The 24-year-old driver of a 2000 Mercury Sable was killed about 9:30 P.M. Wednesday night when he allegedly drove around reportedly lowered crossing gates at Zaragoza Street in El Paso, TX, and was struck by a westbound Union Pacific freight train.
Alberto Salinas was pronounced dead at the scene, and investigators were spreading speculation in regard to determining if alcohol was a factor in the tragedy. The tragedy was the 12th accident at the crossing and the fourth fatality.
