Young Boy Killed by Amtrak Train on Union Pacific Tracks in California

A San Francisco Bay area community was mourning the tragic death of an as-yet unidentified young boy who was killed Saturday afternoon about 4:19 PM, PST. According to news reports, the boy wandered onto Union Pacific Railroad tracks in an industrial area of Santa Clara, CA and was struck by an Amtrak train
The stretch of Union Pacific rails accommodates a daily average of 26 Union Pacific freight and Amtrak/CalTrain trains at a maximum allowable speed of 60 mph. The rail tracks runs through an easily-accessible area of rail-served industries. Santa Clara PD Public Information Officer Wahid Kazem stated “it’s extremely sad that this event happened,” adding that “We’re looking into how this happened”
