Wisconsin Teen Dies After Being Severely Injured by CP Train
(Sparta, Wisconsin – January 29, 2013)
An 18-year-old who received life-threatening injuries as he crossed Canadian Pacific railroad tracks where there was no crossing in his hometown of Sparta, WI early Monday afternoon at about 1:30 P.M. has now died as a result of his injuries.
Corey Bronner was first taken to Mayo Health System in Sparta, WI, but then was airlifted to Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI, where he later passed away.
Sparta Police Chief Michael Kass said that when first responders arrived at the site, near the street intersection of Walrath and Milwaukee Streets, a member of the Canadian Pacific train crew was already performing Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation on the young man.
The Chief also said that based upon an investigation done jointly by Sparta PD and Canadian Pacific Rail Police determined that the tragedy was an accident.
