Union Pacific Train Smashes Grain Truck at Dangerous, Unguarded Minnesota Crossing

(Madelia, Minnesota – August 8, 2011)

A trucker is lucky to be alive after having his empty semi-tractor/trailer rig smashed by a Union Pacific freight train at the dangerous, unguarded crossing of Watonwan County Road 58 and UPRR tracks Monday morning about 8:00 A.M. just north of Madelia, MN.

The grain hauler trailer, owned by High Point Farms of St. Peter, MN, was completely destroyed. The crossing has no electronic protective devices, relying solely upon passive railroad crossbuck signs to warn motorists of the presence of railroad tracks at that location.
