(Cicero, Illinois – June 20, 2011)
Two unidentified men were hit and killed on Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad tracks late Monday night about 11:50 P.M. by an Aurora, IL-bound Metra passenger train as it neared the Cicero, IL station.
A 30-year-old man died at the scene, while his 53-year-old companion was transported to John H. Stoger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was in critical condition, but later died from his injuries. It was at first thought there might have been a third victim, but no others were found. The tragedy is still under investigation, as authorities have no idea why the two men were near the railroad tracks.
