(Joppatowne, Maryland – November 11, 2011)
The driver of an 18-wheeler was injured and his flatbed truck heavily damaged when it was struck by a CSX freight train at the crossing of CSX railroad tracks and Joppa Road in Joppatowne, MD Friday morning a little before 10:00 A.M.
The driver said he did not see the flashing lights until it was too late as the train hit and dragged the truck about 20 yards before overturning it. The Joppa Road crossing is not equipped with crossing gates, which might have averted the accident. The unidentified truck driver was taken to Bayview Medical Center with undetermined injuries.
