(Wrightsville, Arkansas – March 20, 2011) A 60-year-old motorist was killed Sunday evening about 6:15 P.M. at a highway-railroad crossing when the Union Pacific train he was waiting for derailed and crushed his Ford Focus at 145th and Union Streets. Robert Graham of Little Rock died when two railroad cars came off the tracks and buried his car beneath them. Recovery of his body, as well as determination as to if there were any other occupants of his vehicle, took several hours as a crane had to be called to lift the railroad cars from off the victim’s car. According to Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Carl Minden, “From one of the witnesses here on the scene, I believe the car was sitting at the crossing while the train was coming through and it derailed and struck his car and he probably never saw it coming.” The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
