Texas Truck Driver Seriously Injured at Union Pacific Crossing
(College Station, Texas – December 13, 2021)
A local man was seriously injured and transported to an undisclosed area hospital Monday after his tractor-trailer was struck by a Union Pacific freight train. The collision occurred at about 8:00 am at the South Dowling Road crossing in College Station, Texas.
The collision occurred at a crossing that is equipped with flashing lights and automatic gates. However, it is unclear if they were properly and timely operating in advance of the train’s arrival at the crossing.
According to Union Pacific submitted records, a total of fifteen trains travel through this crossing on a daily basis at speeds up to 60 mph. This crossing has also been the site of two prior collision.
Local authorities are investigating this collision.
