(Lansing, Illinois – November 1, 2011)
A 16-year-old boy walking along Canadian National (Grand Trunk Western) railroad tracks in the far south suburban Chicago community of Lansing, IL was struck and killed by Amtrak’s “Cardinal” about 7:10 P.M. Tuesday evening.
David Kivo of Lansing was hit by the Amtrak train, which was heading to New York City from Chicago at 60 mph with 144 passengers on board. The tragic scene was just a few miles from the Illinois/Indiana state line, and both Lansing Fire Dept. and police responded to the accident. When asked for information on the situation, Lansing Police refused to comment.
