Teen Pedestrian Dies at Ohio Rail Crossing

(Delta, Ohio – May 25, 2011)

A 17-year-old Ann Arbor, Michigan teenager was killed shortly after noon (12:02 P.M.) Tuesday, when he was struck by a Norfolk Southern freight train at the railroad crossing on Fulton County Road 11.

Seth Harsch died at the scene according to Fulton County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Roy Miller, whose department is continuing to investigate the tragedy. The Crescent-News of Defiance, OH reported that “According to officials, there are gates at the crossing.” However, there was no indication as to whether the gates were functioning, or what railroad entity had reported the conditions at the crossing.
