Semi Smashed At Dangerous, Unguarded Ohio Crossing

(Marion, Ohio – September 28, 2011)

As a line of three semi-trailer trucks waited on Marion-Williamsport Road at 7:19 A.M. Wednesday morning for the traffic light at Ohio Route 4 in Marion, OH to change, a CSX freight train came along and clipped the rear of the trailer of the third truck, which, unknown to the truck driver, was stopped too close to the dangerous, unguarded crossbuck-only crossing.

Besides tying up traffic on the highway, which parallels CSX railroad track, for nearly 2 ½ hours, the trucker was ticketed by the Ohio Highway Patrol for “obstructing the passage of a vehicle, even though OHP Sgt. Brent Hunter acknowledged that “The driver of the semi thought he was off the tracks when the train hit.”
