Public Official Hit, Killed At Dangerous, Unguarded Louisiana Crossing

(Garden City, Louisiana – July 22, 2011)

The animal control warden of St. Mary parish died instantly early Friday afternoon when his vehicle was struck by a Louisiana & Delta freight train at the dangerous, unguarded Alice C Road crossing of L&D Railroad tracks near Garden City, LA.

Raymond Ina Jr. was on duty, driving on Alice C Road, which makes a 90 degree turn over the Genesee & Wyoming Short Line Group subsidiary tracks, where only railroad crossbucks and no electronic gates or lights give warning of oncoming trains, when he was struck and killed.
