Pennsylvania Driver Dies At Dangerous, Unguarded Norfolk Southern Crossing

(Duncannon, Pennsylvania – July 20, 2011)

A 53-year-old motorist driving a van was killed Wednesday evening shortly after 8:00 P.M. at the dangerous, unguarded Aqueduct Road crossing of Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks in Perry County, PA.

A Norfolk Southern freight train struck the van, pushed it 20 yards down the track, split it open and allowed it to roll down an embankment. Michael Foreman, the sole occupant, died at the scene. The crossing, which is near Linton Hill Road, is protected only by passive railroad crossbuck signs.
