One Dead, Two Injured as Train Hits Pickup Truck

(Ranger, Texas – June 11, 2011)

The 20-year-old driver of a Chevy S-10 pickup died and his two passengers were injured early Saturday evening when their vehicle collided with a Union Pacific freight train at the Main Street crossing in Ranger, TX.

Gene Bradley, the driver, was killed instantly, while Junior Suarez was airlifted to a hospital in Fort Worth, where he was listed in critical but stable condition. The other passenger, Stephen Starr, was treated for minor injuries and released. Witnesses claimed that Bradley drove his truck around lowered railroad crossing gates and police speculated that alcohol may have been involved.
