Oklahoma Motorist Dies At BNSF Crossing

(Moore, Oklahoma – August 8, 2011)

An as-yet unidentified driver of a Ford Taurus station wagon was killed Monday morning about 11:00 A.M. when he was struck by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train at the crossing of BNSF rails and Main Street in Moore, OK. A witness said that the victim “drove under the crossing arm” just before the train hit him, indicating that the gates may not have properly functioned.

Moore Police Dept. Spokesman Jeremy Lewis, however, speculated that the driver could have suffered “a medical condition, such as a heart attack.”
