Motorist Injured At Non-Gated Tennessee Crossing

(Jackson, Tennessee – September 30, 2011)

Kevin Odom, 50, of Jackson, TN was seriously injured early Friday afternoon just before 1:00 P.M. when he attempted to cross West Tennessee Railroad tracks in his 2007 Nissan Versa on Old Medina Road in Jackson, TN, and was struck by a northeast bound WTRR train pulling 42 freight cars.

Although the crossing has flashing lights, it is not equipped with crossing gates to help prevent vehicular traffic with trains. The victim was transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
