(Stamford, Connecticut – August 17, 2011)
A 92-year-old male motorist was seriously injured Wednesday morning about 9:48 A.M. when his car was struck by a Metro-North commuter passenger train with 48 passengers aboard at the Camp Avenue crossing of Metro-North Railroad tracks in Stamford, CT.
The driver, Richard Scalise of Stamford, CT, may have been confused, as he allegedly pulled onto the crossing before the gates came down on both sides of the tracks. The victim was extricated from the wreckage by firefighters and was transported to Stamford Hospital for treatment of his injuries, but his condition was not available.
