Metra Train Seriously Injures Pedestrian on Union Pacific tracks in Chicago Suburb

A Metra train struck a pedestrian Friday afternoon at about 4:10 pm in Palatine, a Chicago suburb. According to initial reports, the pedestrian was alive and being transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. The police were withholding the pedestrian’s condition at this time.
Police are still investigating how this collision occurred. According to railroad industry submitted information, Illinois ranks fifth in the number of pedestrians related casualties, with thirty-five deaths and twenty injuries last year alone.
