Kansas Heavy Equipment Operator Killed at Union Pacific Crossing
(January 31, 2023 –Leavenworth, Kansas)
On Tuesday at about 2:10 pm, a local Leavenworth resident was killed when he was attempting to operate a piece of heavy equipment over Union Pacific Railroad tracks and was struck by a freight train. The heavy equipment operator has been identified as 28-year-old Cody Clark.
According to reports, Cody Clark was a civilian public works employee driving a front-end loader tractor on Fort Leavenworth when the wreck occurred. Cody Clark was taken to the hospital by helicopter where he later died of his injuries Tuesday afternoon.
Fort Leavenworth and Union Pacific officials are still investigating this collision.
