Illinois Pedestrian Dies When Hit By Amtrak Train on Union Pacific Rails
(Lincoln, Illinois—October 28, 2011)
A 42-year-old local resident died about 5:00 P.M. Friday afternoon when he was struck by a southbound Amtrak passenger train traveling on Union Pacific Railroad tracks in northeast Lincoln, IL.
The victim, Jimmy D. Jordan, was walking along UPRR tracks near the Saint- Gobain Containers factory when the train, bound for Springfield, IL, hit and killed him.
Logan County Coroner Robert Thomas said he would perform an autopsy on the deceased Monday in Springfield. In addition to the coroner, the Lincoln Police Dept., Lincoln Fire Dept. and Logan County Paramedics Assn. all responded to the tragic scene.
