Female Motorist, Trapped On Crossing, Injured By Union Pacific Train
(Boyd, Texas – December 15, 2011)
A female motorist, trapped on Union Pacific Railroad tracks at the crossing of Texas 114 in Boyd, TX, was injured when a southbound UPRR freight train struck her four-door sedan Thursday morning.
Tommie S. Gillespie, 81, was eastbound on Texas 114 when the crossing gates dropped while she was directly on the crossing. Witnesses said she tried to back up, but was pinned by the crossing gates, which blocked her escape from the oncoming train.
The victim’s car was heavily damaged, and she was seriously shaken by the accident. Gillespie was transported to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur, TX for treatment of her injuries.
