Empty New Jersey Transit Train Kills Pedestrian on Amtrak Rails
(Elizabeth, New Jersey – July 19, 2011)
A four car New Jersey Transit train transporting rail equipment to Atlantic City, NJ struck and killed an as-yet unidentified pedestrian walking on Amtrak-owned rails about 11:00 A.M. Tuesday morning in the northwest New Jersey city of Elizabeth. Using standard railroad public relations procedure, Amtrak’s spokesperson labeled the victim as a trespasser and could offer no further information in regard to the tragic death.
