(Schertz, Texas – October 24, 2011)
The 82-year-old driver of a white Nissan Altima died about 11:00 P.M. Monday night when his car somehow became disabled at the First Street crossing of Union Pacific railroad tracks in Schertz, TX, and was struck by a UPRR freight train.
“His car could have been stalled, or he might have just been sitting there and was oblivious to what was happening,” said City of Schertz spokesman Brad Bailey.
The man’s car was broadsided by the train and shoved 75 feet beyond the point of impact, killing the victim instantly.
