(Grand Island, Nebraska – May 4, 2011)

A Union Pacific train dragged the Buick driven by an as-yet unidentified elderly driver over 100 yards after the two collided. The collision occurred at the crossing of Oak Street and Union Pacific Railroad tracks about 11:42 Wednesday morning.

The nature of the accident caused investigating personnel to suspect a possible medical problem, as the victim was unconscious and emergency personnel had to break the car’s window to rescue the motorist. The individual was transported to St. Francis Medical Center, where he was admitted in undisclosed condition.
